Our garden beds are absolutely bursting with fresh veggies! This week, students are diving into hands-on cooking by making delicious salsa and pesto using our very own garden produce.
We're also thrilled to share that our students were recently featured as guests on WABI TV 5's garden segment! It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase their hard work and passion for gardening.
Make sure to check out our other garden posts this week!

While it’s off by default, a few taps can reveal sensitive places like their school or home. A huge shout-out to the Doughty Boosters for kicking off our Guest Lunch Server Program for the 2025-26 school year! The guest lunch server program introduces middle school students to careers and community members who support local education. Through this initiative, students have the opportunity to engage with professionals from various fields, learn about different career paths, and gain valuable insights into the importance of community involvement. We are excited to see our students interact with these role models, fostering a sense of responsibility and encouraging them to envision their futures. Thank you, Doughty Boosters, for your dedication and supporting this program! #WeAreBangor

The James F. Doughty School faculty and staff are excited to welcome everyone to the 2025-26 school year. This summer has been a busy one at both the Doughty School and the Cohen School, with the completion of the Indoor Air Quality Renovation that spanned two full summers.
While work is nearing completion, and the buildings will be ready for the opening of school, construction has limited the ability for teachers to prepare classrooms and for custodians to complete annual summer work. In order to provide teachers, custodians, secretaries, and construction staff the maximum available time to prepare for the school year, Open House at both middle schools will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd, from 6:00-7:00PM. After an exciting first day, students will be able to lead families through their scheduled classes, introduce their teachers, and tour the school.
On the first day of school, students will receive their schedule in homeroom, along with other first-day documents. Early next week, office staff will be sending out letters to all students and families informing them of homeroom teacher assignments. As students arrive in the building on the first day, staff will be available to help them find their way to their homeroom.
The first day of school is a special occasion for us all, and all of the members of the Bangor School Department remain available to assist students in a successful start to the school year.
Respectfully,
Sam Moring
Principal
James F. Doughty School
