Bangor Day—December 23, 2025—Wear Red and White!

During the month of December we are collecting healthy non-perishable foods, including canned vegetables and fruit, canned meat and tuna, cereal, pasta, rice, peanut butter, juice, and beverages.

The City of Bangor and the Bangor School Department will collect money donations. For a $10 donation, BSD staff may wear jeans on December 23.
Donations may be given at any Bangor school.

Please make checks payable to Bangor School Department.
Let's show our Bangor spirit, wear our school colors, and help those in need in our community.

Donation of funds will be collected at all eleven Bangor Schools and City Hall.

Get ready to turn up the volume, because it was a day to remember! The halls of James F. Doughty School transformed into a high-octane rock 'n' roll paradise. The theme? You guessed it: Rocker! The energy was electric as teachers and staff channeled their inner rock legends, strutting their stuff like they were on center stage.

But let’s talk about the real star of the show—Mrs. Patterson! Our rockin’ librarian brought the house down with her killer look, proving that she can shred it not just with books but with style too. Her outfit was pure rock royalty, turning heads and setting the bar high!

And let’s not forget the karaoke! The air was filled with power ballads and classic anthems as everyone jammed out like there was no tomorrow. It had the spirit of a legendary concert, with staff belting it out and living their best lives.

Did you know that JFDS has a garden? Thanks to a hard-working Garden Club crew, we were able to harvest and share over fifty pounds of food with our school during our lunch service this fall.

After learning about the recent jewel heist at the Louvre museum in Paris, 8th grade French students participated in a scavenger hunt to find a reproduction of the Mona Lisa that Mrs. Dupuy secretly hid in the school.
Students had to ask teachers around the school for clues, which spelled out the French word for the location of the painting. Students worked in groups to figure out which teachers had clues for them, then asked them questions to learn facts about the Louvre.
The class then worked together to put all the letters together to spell the word 'bibliotheque,' which means 'library.' They sped to the library to find the painting, and the whole class won a reward for their detective work.

On November 20th from 3:30 to 6:30pm, families can visit one of four locations—Bangor High School, William S. Cohen School, Fairmount School, and Downeast School—and fill a shopping bag with needed items.

How You Can Help:

Donate Needed Items: Drop off food/household items by November 18th.
Make a Monetary Donation: Cash, checks, or gift cards are welcome!

Most Needed Items: Canned vegetables/fruits, soups, rice, pasta, cereal, beans, peanut butter, canned meats, snacks, cooking oil, personal care items

Drop-off Location: Bangor High School main office.
