August 15, 2025
The James F. Doughty School faculty and staff are excited to welcome everyone to the 2025-26 school year. This summer has been a busy one at both the Doughty School and the Cohen School, with the completion of the Indoor Air Quality Renovation that spanned two full summers.
While work is nearing completion, and the buildings will be ready for the opening of school, construction has limited the ability for teachers to prepare classrooms and for custodians to complete annual summer work. In order to provide teachers, custodians, secretaries, and construction staff the maximum available time to prepare for the school year, Open House at both middle schools will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd, from 6:00-7:00PM. After an exciting first day, students will be able to lead families through their scheduled classes, introduce their teachers, and tour the school.
On the first day of school, students will receive their schedule in homeroom, along with other first-day documents. Early next week, office staff will be sending out letters to all students and families informing them of homeroom teacher assignments. As students arrive in the building on the first day, staff will be available to help them find their way to their homeroom.
The first day of school is a special occasion for us all, and all of the members of the Bangor School Department remain available to assist students in a successful start to the school year.
Respectfully,
Sam Moring
Principal
