Dear 7th & 8th Grade Parents of MLTI Students:
The State of Maine, through the Maine Learning Technology Initiative (MLTI), provides all Grade 7 and Grade 8 students in Maine with a laptop to use for educational purposes at school and also at home. The school must obtain parent permission before a student is able to take their MacBook Air home. The State requires parents to attend an orientation meeting at school to learn about the Laptop Home Use Procedures. The James F. Doughty School will offer an orientation meeting to meet this requirement on Thursday, September 15th from 6:00-6:45 PM in the JFDS Auditorium. Parents unable to attend the meeting at JFDSare invited to attend a meeting at the William S. Cohen School on Monday, September 12th from 6:00-6:45 p.m.
Attached to this letter is a packet of information pertaining to student permission to participate in the Laptop Take Home Program. Parents who have previously attended a MLTI Take Home Orientation do not have to attend a meeting this year. Simply fill out the paperwork (Home Use Procedure Form) and return it to school with your student. Parents who have not attended a meeting in past years must fill out the paperwork and bring it to an orientation meeting if you are interested in allowing your student to participate in the program. Participation in the take home program is voluntary.
