If you have driven past JFDS in the last week or so, you may have noticed some heavy duty construction going on. In addition to all of the usual summer cleaning, painting, and teacher work in our building we have three major projects ongoing.
Outside, all paved surfaces and curbing is being replaced. The process started last week with the removal of the old damaged pavement and curbing. Crews are currently grading the lot, and preparing it for the installation of new pavement and curbing. We apologize for the inconvenience if you are trying to get to the building, but we assure you, we are open!
Inside, all of the white markerboards in the old part of the building are being replaced. As students can attest, these boards could no longer be erased and had outlived their use. Each board has been removed and the walls are being prepared for the new boards. Additionally, the gym floor is scheduled to be totally redone over the next month and renamed in honor of long-time Bangor educator Robert W. Kelley. As all of this work goes on, teachers have been preparing for the 2016-17 school year, and students have been in every Wednesday for open Library time.
Stay tuned for further updates!
