It is time for families to begin getting ready for the fall sports season! With the September 1st start date this year, and Labor Day coming on the following Monday, the time for tryouts and practices is extremely short, so it is even more important than ever that parents turn in athletic paperwork prior to the start of the season! Here is some helpful information for you to know:
Athletic Paperwork:
All student athletes must complete 2 forms of paperwork prior to tryouts. The first is an up to date physical (a green form). One physical covers the entire three years of middle school for students. The second form (yellow) is a parent consent form, which is two-sided. This form must be filled out annually. Students who do not have both forms completed prior to tryouts will not be allowed to participate.
Football Information:
Football will begin on August 17th with equipment day. From 8 to 9:30AM, all eighth grade players will meet with the coaches, turn in paperwork, and receive equipment. From 9:30 to 11:00AM, seventh grade players will do the same. All practices will be held at JFDS and are closed to parents. Practices will run from 3 to 5PM, Monday through Friday each week. All players must receive Impact testing prior to their first game. The testing session for football will be Friday, August 19th, from 8 to 10AM.
Field Hockey & Soccer Information:
Tryouts for field hockey & girls soccer will be held on September 7th & 8th. Boys soccer will be on the 8th & 9th. Tryout times will be announced during the first two days of school. All practices and tryouts will be held at JFDS and are closed to parents. Practices will generally run after school, Monday through Friday each week. All players must receive Impact testing prior to their first game. The testing session for field hockey and soccer will be Monday, September 12th, right after school.
Cross Country Information:
Cross Country is a non-cut sport. The team will meet on Tuesday, September 6th in the auditorium, right after school. All practices will be held at JFDS and are closed to parents. Practices will generally run after school, Monday through Friday each week. Cross country runners do not require Impact testing.
