Sixteen eighth grade students traveled to the University of Maine this Saturday to compete in the annual National History Day event. This year’s theme was ‘Taking a Stand in History’. Students could chose to complete a historical paper, documentary, website, performance, or exhibit. They could also work alone or with a group.
Schools from all over the state of Maine compete each year with gold and silver medal winners advancing to the national contest in Washington D.C. this June.
Congratulations to Lyrica Marsh and Meaghan Caron for their bronze medal win. They created a group documentary on Irena Sendler.
James Fahey brought home the gold to Doughty with his individual website on Malcolm X (click the link to see James’ site – http://28197729.nhd.weebly.com). He is looking forward to competing in D.C!
