Dear JFDS Families,
Welcome to the James F. Doughty School, a caring place where we focus on empowering students to reach for the stars! As a Bulldog, your child will be immersed in an educational program that provides academic excellence for all. Teachers and staff offer a rich academic program and provide a variety of co-curricular and extra curricular activities where all students can meet with success.
The vast majority of learning occurs in the classroom with the teacher and classmates. Students will collaborate, communicate, think, experiment, and reflect as part of each day. Therefore, being in class is very important for each student, every day.
The first day of school, September 1, 2015, your child will be given a student agenda/handbook. Please review the handbook with your child as it details student responsibilities and expectations. During the first week of school, each teacher will be reviewing with students expectations for instructions, homework, grading and citizenship and will review pertinent BSD polices.
The faculty and staff at James F. Doughty look forward to working with you and your child this year. Please contact your child’s teacher, guidance counselor, Mrs. O’Reilly, the assistant principal, Mr. Moring, or my office during the school year if you have questions or concerns (941-6220).
Edward M. Hackett, Principal
